I am a Radiation Oncology Social Worker at Providence Portland Medical Center and have submitted several requests to Komak over the past few years for support to families in crisis. All my interactions with the Board have been professional, compassionate and supportive. I appreciate that the Komak application process is efficient, thorough and time sensitive. Increasing health care costs and unemployment due to a cancer diagnosis cause great consternation for many of the patients I encounter. People should not have to make decisions regarding whether to pay for health care or costs for basic living needs. Thanks to the support of the volunteers and the community who support Komak, such decisions are resolved so people with cancer can focus on getting healthy.
