Social Media Volunteer

The Social Media Volunteer is an unpaid, primarily virtual volunteer position and will report to our Marketing and PR Lead. He/she will represent our nonprofit by upholding and building the social media presence for our brand as well as manage our community by responding to comments and messages across all platforms.


The Social Media Volunteer will drive engagement by creating high-quality original content and sharing Komak’s vision, mission, initiatives and events to keep supporters, donors, volunteers, and the public abreast of Komak campaigns, progress, projects and accomplishments, linking back to our website.


You will be part of the Communications team working together to consistently share content that supports our mission and board goals.


This role directly contributes to Komak’s mission to provide short-term assistance to fill a financial gap in living expenses for cancer patients unable to work during their treatment.

Approximate Time Required: 2-4 hours weekly/3-6 months 


Responsibilities:

• Formulating high-quality novel written and visual content for each social media campaign.

• Building a social media presence by maintaining a solid online presence.

• Monitoring Komak’s brand on social media.

• Managing our online communities to ensure respectful and

appropriate engagement with compassion and empathy 

• Responding to comments on each of our accounts.

• Running social media advertising campaigns.

• Analyzing data to determine whether social media campaigns

have achieved their objectives.

• Attending Regular Komak Communications Team Meetings


Qualifications/Requirements:

• Social Media Marketing experience.

• Experience developing social media strategies.

• Experience working with and developing a marketing plan.

• Ability to develop the right voice for each social media platform.

• Ability to build social media communities.

• Understanding of graphic design principles.

• Ability to measure the success of campaigns.

• Ability to work within a team to create a consistent voice.

• Experience as a Brand Manager on social media is a plus.

Komak will provide reference letters for all volunteers who successfully complete their volunteer placement.

This position requires a minimum 3-6 month commitment for an average of 2-4 hours per week, which will be completed virtually in the Social Media Volunteer’s own office or home. Position commitment is subject to renewal and extension by agreement from both parties.
